Universidad Catolica Nordestana (UCNE): A Legacy of Commitment and Vision

Founded on March 14, 1978, the Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE) was born from the vision and dedication of a group of concerned citizens from San Francisco de Macorís. Their goal was clear: to foster the development of the northeastern region of the Dominican Republic through higher education.

Initially recognized as Universidad Nordestana (UNNE) by the Executive Branch of the Dominican Republic under Decree No. 3487 on July 14, 1978, the institution was granted full legal authority to issue academic degrees with the same validity and recognition as those awarded by official autonomous universities. This recognition was based on Laws No. 273 (June 27, 1966) and No. 236 (December 23, 1967).

Later, on August 18, 2001, the university was officially established as Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE) by Decree No. 87, issued by the Bishop of the Diocese of San Francisco de Macorís. This transformation followed an irrevocable resolution by the Fundación Universitaria Nordestana Inc., dated November 23, 2000.

Today, UCNE stands as a non-profit Catholic institution of higher education. It is guided by the Diocese of San Francisco de Macorís and supported by the Fundación Universitaria Católica Nordestana, Inc. UCNE continues to stand as a beacon of academic excellence and social responsibility, in the region, throughout the nation and across the global academic community.

La Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE): Un Legado de Compromiso y Visión

Fundada el 14 de marzo de 1978, la Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE) nació del compromiso y la visión de un grupo de ciudadanos preocupados de San Francisco de Macorís. Su objetivo era claro: fomentar el desarrollo de la región nordeste de la República Dominicana a través de la educación superior.

Inicialmente reconocida como Universidad Nordestana (UNNE) por el Poder Ejecutivo de la República Dominicana mediante el Decreto No. 3487 del 14 de julio de 1978, la institución recibió plena autoridad legal para otorgar títulos académicos con la misma validez y reconocimiento que los conferidos por universidades oficiales autónomas. Este reconocimiento se basó en las Leyes No. 273 (27 de junio de 1966) y No. 236 (23 de diciembre de 1967).

Posteriormente, el 18 de agosto de 2001, la universidad fue oficialmente establecida como Universidad Católica Nordestana (UCNE) mediante el Decreto No. 87, emitido por el Obispo de la Diócesis de San Francisco de Macorís. Esta transformación siguió a una resolución irrevocable de la Fundación Universitaria Nordestana Inc., fechada el 23 de noviembre de 2000.

Hoy en día, la UCNE se mantiene como una institución católica sin fines de lucro dedicada a la educación superior. Está guiada por la Diócesis de San Francisco de Macorís y respaldada por la Fundación Universitaria Católica Nordestana, Inc. La UCNE continúa siendo un faro de excelencia académica y responsabilidad social en la región, en todo el país y en la comunidad académica global.
