Founded 1948 as Ryerson Institute of Technology, became Ryerson Polytechnic Institute 1963 and Ryerson University in 1993. Ryerson combines a traditional focus on theory with career-oriented emphasis on applicable skills-through laboratory work, field trips, outside projects, work experience, internships, regular contact with business and industry and work experience in the professional community. The University became Toronto Metropolitan University in 2022.

If graduating with OACs, most Ryerson programmes/schools encourage 70% or higher in six OACs, or equivalent, and include the required subject prerequisite within these averages. If graduating under the new curriculum effective 2003, most Ryerson programmes/schools encourage 70% or higher in a minimum of six Grade 12 U or U/C credits, and include the required subject prerequisite within these averages. Applicants from a country where English is not the first language, or where English is an official language but not the first language are required to provide proof of English proficiency at a satisfactory level. Eligibility for admission will be based on an assessment of academic and, when applicable, non-academic factors, such as audition, admission essay, interview, portfolio, etc. For the Diploma of Arts Programme and the pre-University Studies option, the minimum requirements is the OSSD.
National:Undergraduate fees, 5,758.15- 8,267.88 per annum for Canadian students and 17,498.19-19,148.43 per annum for International students; Master’s degree, 4,785.03 per annum (Communication and Culture) to 19,479.30 per annum (MBA and Computer Networks) for Canadian students and 16,159.83-34,097.25 per annum for International students; PhD, 4,785.03 per annum (Communication and Culture) to 8,014.68 per annum (Engineering) for Canadian students and 16,159.86 to 17,295.27 per annum for International students.
