Founded in 1921 as Concordia College by the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. In 1967, Concordia College began offering first-year university courses in affiliation with the University of Alberta. It became a degree-granting university in 1987. In 1995, Concordia College changed its name to Concordia University College of Alberta to reflect its status as a degree granting institution. In 2015, Concordia University College became Concordia University of Edmonton
