Founded as Mugalpura Engineering College at Lahore (now in Pakistan) 1921. Changed name to Maclagan Engineering College 1924. Affiliated to Punjab University, Lahore 1931. Parted and moved to Roorkee (India), it was renamed as East Punjab College of Engineering 1947. Renamed Punjab Engineering College 1950. Moved to Chandigarh 1953. Acquired present status of 'Deemed University' 2003. Renamed PEC University of Technology (Deemed to be University) 2009. Restored previous name 2017
